I made this topic to talk to each other about historical items or artefacts.

You can speak about the ones you've got, and about the history behind it.

I've just got some pipe heads, made from clay. On the pipe heads there is some kind of marking, probably the emblem of the maker of it. I do not know much about these, because it was given to me.

I had found something near Borculo, in the ground, it looked like an sun-like coin or something. I went to the man from which the pipe heads were from, he told me it was probably a kind of medal from World War 2.

so this was my story, I'll hope you will also tell an story about Historical Items/Artefacts. You can also talk about the famous ones you will never possess, like Pandora's Box, as an example.

Is a sewing machine historical enough? ;) I got two hand driven examples. One that does not work, but most of the decoration in tact and one that does work, but more used looking. The first bought on a second hand market, the other one given by a college of my father.
I would really like to have a foot driven one to, but where to get it for the same nice price as the other two ;)

if've got a diversity of historical items/artifacts. Some ground findings like bells, old knive, decorative brooches, mold for bullets and old bullets (ball shaped from 16th till 18th century) some small fossils and a pair of "zeeuwse knopen" a type of mairage or engagement ring from the south west of the Netherlands. And my priced possesion: a dutch railway hammer from around 1895. And much more stuff like an old table citer from 16..

My girlfriend has lots of old fossils like paw prints, snakeprints et cetera.
My mother-in-law has a old sewingmachine hand driven (table model) that is in pretty good shape and has to be adjusted a little to get it working again.

first of all, my deepest apology for the very late reply.

Second, the table citer has been found a few years ago by an old fisherman in the waddenzee. He kept it a couple of years and gave it eventually to my mothers ex. He gave it a couple of years later to me. So on that one i was just lucky. The railway hammer just popped up on a day in my shed. Still can't fully explain why how or when. The fossils come from the ground in these parts. and all the other soil findings if've got just by pure good looking around.
