Posted: 5 February 2008. Subject: Studio Ghibli /Hayao Miyazaki's work
Personally I love all studio Ghibli movies and especially Hayao Miyazaki's work. I have nearly the entire studio Ghibli dvd collection at home ^^ My favourites are Howl's moving castle, Spirited Away and Tonari no Totoro.

Has anybody else seen any of Miyazaki's work/studio Ghibli movies? (if not go and dll/buy and watch them now ;) )

My Miyazaki favorite is Spirited Away, but I don't (yet) have the complete Ghibly-collection.. The two other dvd's of Miyazaki I have are Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle. Both are nice, but well, just nice ^^

I also read te first two parts in the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga series, so I would very much like to see that movie!

Not studio Ghibly, but imho also very nice: Steamboy and Metropolis

I also have Metropolis ^^ The problem with most Ghibli movies is that they're not avaible or very hard to find in the Netherlands. :( I had to get mine from England. One of the few that is avaible here is Pom Poko, if you get the chance watch that. It's not Miyazaki, but it's really good and funny too.

Casandra, nowadays you can order a lot of (Ghibli) movies quite easily at the Free Record Shop, Bol.com, Boudisque or Amazon. Give it a try.
And Ghibi/Miyazaki have made some real gems of animation movies. I love 'My neighbour Totoro' for it's simple plot and the way it just charms you.

I know, but I don't like having to wait for my stuff to arrive. I prefer just buying it and then watching it straight away. ;) What I meant to say is that because there's so little anime in Dutch stores very few people tend to come into contact with it. Besides I'd like to see more Dutch versions, so I can show them to my cousins. I'd love to show them stuff like Tonari no Totoro, but they wouldn't understand the English version.

Tonari no Totoro is very cute and charming. That's why I like it so much. ^^ That and the cat bus is just great. I want to go to the Ghibli museum and climb in the live sized one :P

I've got Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. Very good films, and very kids-friendly. I do think there are some good advices in the films of Hayao Miyazaki, I didn't search for them, yet. But I think íf you search for some good life-lessons in a film of his, you would probably find one maybe more.
"In dutch" Geen sluikreclame, maar sluiklessen "/In dutch"

But the movies are real good quality, and very fun. All with some magic, in each case some fantasy.

If all goes according to plan I will visit Japan in 2010. And a visit to the Ghibli museum is high on the to-do list. Of course that includes a climb on the Catbus. (yn)

The only movie I've seen so far is Princess Mononoke. I liked that one and should really take the time to watch some of the other movies aswell :)
