How do I report abuse?

If you see something that’s against the rules, abusive language, explicit content in a profile, news or agenda item, you can report it to the Community Manager. At the bottom of the page is the link “abuse” which you can use for the report.
There is a separate report function on the forum. In the right top corner of every post you see an exclamation mark. When you click it you can report the post.

How do I contact Talking Fantasy about something?

At the bottom of the page there is a link “contact”. There you will find the email and snail mail address of Talking Fantasy

I want to tell my friends all about this website, how do I do this?

At this moment there is no invite option yet, but in the near future you can invite both your friends outside of the website to join you, and your friends inside the website to become your friend.

I have a question for your faq, can I submit it somewhere?

You can put your questions on the “Questions and Suggestions” forum. Some of the questions on there will be added to the F.A.Q.

When I first get to your site it’s set in English or Dutch, why?

The very first time you go to the website it checks the language your browser uses. When this is English or any European language but Dutch, you will see the website in English, when it’s Dutch you will see the website in Dutch. You can always change the language in your profile. The first language you pick is the one you see the menus in. When you pick more than one language, you will also see all the news and agenda items in that language. In the near future more language options will be added like German and French.

Registration

What kind of names can I use to register?

To register you can pick any name you want, as long as it is one word (not containing any spaces), and not abusive, sexist or racist.

Why do I have to pick a language?

Most parts of the website are available in different languages. This way you get news and agenda items in the language you want You can pick more than one language up to a maximum of 4. The language you put in first will be the language the website will show it’s menus in. At the moment this can but English and Dutch. More languages will be implemented later.

When I register I have the choice between User, Merchant and Artist. What do I pick?

you can always just pick User. If you are a Merchant or artist, you can already pick the one you want. Whichever you choose can always be changed later on in your account page. In the future Merchants and Artists will be different options on top of the normal user options.

What’s this user agreement thing for?

It’s to make sure that TF is not responsible for what people post on the website and therefore can not be sued because of the content and is not responsible for damages to persons and goods. Also to make sure copyright is taken care of in the right way so artists can safely put content on the website.

Why do I need to fill out so many things? How about my privacy?

A few of the things you already need to fill out have to do with future features of the site, such as adding friends, being a part of a group structure and such.  Talking Fantasy will not abuse your trust. We will only use your email address to contact you when we have a newsletter to send about upcoming new features of the website. I get a sub domain? Cool! But what does it do?

Your profile page has it’s own sub-domain of yourname.talkingfantasy.com. This means that you can easily link it to your friends. You are your own admin on your profile. You can add or remove certain functions and are admin of your own forum.

How do I add a picture to my profile?

When you register you have the option to upload a picture. If you decide to do that later, you can just go to your profile and “edit”. There you have the option again to upload a picture from your hard drive to the website.

I see all kinds of icons I didn’t see on the main page, what’s up with that?

You are admin of your profile page. You can edit what it looks like, and add or remove things like your forum, fotopage and guestbook. You can add news and agenda items and be admin of the comments people place on them.

How do I add a forum, A picture album or buy and sell?

Go to your profile and “edit profile”. On the right side you can see which modules you can add to your profile page. One of them is your forum. You can also add a picture album or your buy and sell there.

How do I manage my guestbook?

In your “edit profile” page, you can add or remove your guestbook module. When you go to “configure page” you can decide to put your guestbook on the right or left side. You can edit or remove posts from people by clicking on the edit and remove icons in those posts.

Someone is spamming my guestbook... help!

You are admin of your own guestbook. You can edit and remove posts from people in your guestbook. If someone keeps being annoying you can report them with the “abuse” link at the bottom of the screen. Make sure you explain who is doing the abuse in your guestbook so the admin can take appropriate action.

When I change something in my profile it won’t save.

Make sure you have typed your password to confirm your change. This is an extra security measure so people can’t just tinker with your profile and account settings.

How do I add a picture to my news and agenda items?

When you make a new news or agenda item, you have the option to upload a picture from your hard drive. Just click the “browse” button and pick the picture you want. When you also want to show that picture in the list of news items, you need to check the box in front of the picture to link it to that news or agenda item.

I have made a news or agenda item in my profile but it’s not showing.

Make sure that the language you select to type the post in, is also set in your account, especially if you want more languages. If you have made a post in English but in your account you have not added English to your languages you will not be able to see your own item. To fix it, edit your account and add the languages of your choosing.

How do people show that avatar next to their name?

in “Edit profile” you can upload a picture to use in both your profile. This is the picture that appears as avatar on the forum.

How do I quote other’s post?

When you look at someone’s post you see some icons in the right top corner. One of them is “” That’s the icon you click when you want to quote someone’s post.

How do I edit my own post?

When you look at your own post you see some icons in the top right corner. One of them is a little wrench. Click it to edit your post.

What’s that exclamation mark for?

When you notice that a post is inappropriate you can report it to a moderator. Click the exclamation mark and let us know what’s wrong with the post.
